Barbara Dill-Varga
Acrylic painting and photography

"I am an intuitive artist who creates abstract paintings on paper, canvas, or wood panels using acrylic paint, and mixed media. My art celebrates the resilience of my natural environment, especially from my walks in The Carmel Highlands.  I notice patterns, sometimes disrupted; contrasting textures; vivid colors always magically harmonious; and landscapes constantly changing due to weather, seasonal differences, and/or man’s intrusiveness. And yet, Nature survives, yes, even thrives."

Diane Grindol
watercolor, photography & drawings

"Diane Grindol has been in love with Monterey Peninsula her whole adult life. She captures its beauty in playful watercolor. She takes photos and combines them into “Ink Habitats” that accentuate the birds and creatures of our varied Peninsula habitats. Diane takes joy in slowing life’s hectic pace to work on detailed drawings, or capturing the moment in fast sketches. A pencil is her friend."

Sandra Still
Photography

"My first black and white photography class was in 1975 at Skinnskatteberg Folkhogskola in Sweden. The folkhogskola also had classes in printmaking, weaving, woodworking, and ceramics. I’ve always been a hands on to make it type of person with a penchant towards crafts and composition.Following Sweden, I went to Foothill Community College again with focus on crafts: photography, weaving, and fiber arts. From there I transferred to UC Davis to earn a BS in Design. My interest in material culture lead me to earn a Master’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Washington in Seattle. The interest in crafts and culture lead me to the Museum on Wheels program out of the Monterey Museum of Art. I taught through their outreach program for many years and worked my way to be the Director of Education at MMA from 1993-2004. I taught art at Notre Dame High School 2004-2008, Santa Catalina 2008-2012, and Soledad High School 2012-2022.
I’ve been fortunate to travel to many parts of our world and always with a camera. I enjoy documenting culture, customs, countryside, wildlife, landscapes; seeking beauty, patterns, contrast, and always the light."
