Resources for Writers and Illustrators of Children's Books

Tuesday, April 27, 2010: Children's book author Carol Diggory Shields: "Recommended Resources for People who are Interested in Writing and/or Illustrating Books for Children"; 7:00 to 9:00 PM, YMCA, 600 Camino El Estero, Monterey.

Arts Habitat will present Carol Diggory Shields, children's book author, on Tuesday, April 27, as part of their event series Arts in Progress. The events take place every fourth Tuesday of the month at the Monterey YMCA, 600 Camino El Estero, at Webster Street, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Refreshments are served and the events are free and open to the public.

Ms. Shields will talk about recommended resources for people who are interested in writing and/or illustrationg books for children and about the process of writing and submitting manuscripts.

Ms. Shields describes herself as either a late bloomer or a master procrastinator because she didn't start writing for children until she was nearly forty. Her first book, "I Am Really A Princess", was accepted by Dutton Children's Books for publication in 1993. Her 22nd book, "Someone Used My Toothbrush (and Other Bathroom Poems) will be published this month. She is the children's librarian at the Seaside Library.
