Bob Phillips, Jazz Pianist


Arts Habitat will present Bob Phillips, Jazz pianist, at Arts in Progress (AIP) on Tuesday, September 24, in a presentation entitled, "Who's Counting".


AIP takes place the fourth Tuesday of each month from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The event takes place at the Museum of Monterey, 5 Customs House Plaza, Monterey. AIP is open to the public, the admission fee is $5 and complimentary refreshments are served. The first and last half hours are devoted to socializing and community building.


Mr. Phillips will give a  brief talk about how and why he decided on a lifelong career as a musician and where his musical attention is 60 years later. Mr. Phillips will perform some musical samples on his electric keyboard and has invited special guest, Anna Lambourne, to sing songs from their latest CD project. 




Bob Phillips was born in Newton, New Jersey, about 100 miles northwest of NYC. He moved toNYC soon aftergraduating high school, starting 15 years of adventures in the Big Apple. Work opportunities were endless in those days and Mr. Phillips spent time at the Hotel Astor, the Playboy Club, Village Vanguard, Birdland, Waldorf Astoria and many other venues. In 1973 he moved to the Monterey Peninsula and has been teaching and playing ever since.
