Shirmaine Jones, Arts Habitat Administrative Assistant
Shirmaine Jones was born in Massachusetts and raised in western New
York. She graduated from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont,
with a B.S. in Spanish Literature and a B.S. in Economics. She has
lived on the Monterey Peninsula for 24 years; she is married and
is the mother of two children.
Ms. Jones' work history includes managing a furniture store for four
years, and owning and operating a retail gift store for 15 years.
During those years and since she has been active in various business
organizations and non-profit, community associations, such as: the
Cannery Row Association, the Monterey Chamber of Commerce, the YWCA,
the Pacific Grove Children's Coop and most recently, the Monterey
Bay Charter School. She has also worked as an activist in local politics.
Ms. Jones' hobbies include travel, reading, swimming, roller-skating,
hiking and biking.
